Do I need a landscape designer?

If you want your yard to be functional, beautiful, and low-stress, working with a landscape designer can save time and help you avoid costly mistakes. Who handles the landscape installation?

Sage Coast focuses on design and project management—not installation. Once your design is complete, we can recommend trusted local contractors or help you get bids. If desired, we offer project management to coordinate with your contractor and oversee key moments during install.

How much does landscaping cost?

It depends on the size and scope of the project. Our design packages typically range from $1,500–$4,500. Installation costs vary widely—from around $10,000 for a simple front yard to $50,000+ for a full transformation. We’ll walk you through what’s realistic for your space and budget during your consultation.

What’s the difference between a landscape designer and a landscape architect?

Landscape architects are licensed professionals who often work on large-scale or commercial projects. Landscape designers—like us—specialize in residential environments, focusing on creative and functional outdoor solutions that suit your home and lifestyle.

Can you help me qualify for a Lawn-to-Garden rebate?

Yes. Sage Coast is on the approved designer list for the Long Beach Lawn-to-Garden program and is familiar with rebate requirements throughout Southern California. We ensure your design meets all criteria and can help guide you through the application process.

You can learn more about the Long Beach Lawn-to-Garden program here and check out the regional Metropolitan Water District rebate program here.

What if I want to do part of the work myself?

That’s no problem—many clients take on parts of the project themselves. Whether you're planting, laying mulch, or phasing things over time, we’ll design with that in mind. A thoughtful plan ensures the end result looks cohesive, even if you're installing it in stages.

How do I choose the right plants for my yard?

We consider sun exposure, soil conditions, water needs, and your personal style to build a plant palette that’s both beautiful and practical. Whether you’re drawn to low-water natives, Mediterranean textures, or colorful pollinator gardens, we’ll make sure your plants are set up to thrive.
